oh man, I logged in and the first thing I saw was Todd Clearwater. Gross.
My apologies folks. I shared my meeting link with region 6 band directors. I was unaware that the link was personal.
Brian, now you know how we feel when we see your name.
Thank you all for your leadership in keeping the health of kids and teachers in mind as you made that (I’m sure) difficult decision!
Is that ATSSB as well?
Yes, ATSSB, is included.
Our region has a non-competitive region band audition. Is that covered as well?
through January 10th
Is it ok if I record on my computer? I keep getting interruptions in my office and am missing some things that I would like to go back and review.
Chuck, the whole meeting is recorded and will be available on the TMEA website Covid page within a day or so.
Entertain the heck out of our fans!
^^ I'm already prepared to arrange some dope tunes!
Is there any talk about submitting Marching UIL via video as well like the TMEA auditions? Traveling may be an issue for some districts.
That is a good question
Todd, if you could email this power point to Frank Coachman, he could post it to the TMEA website. It would be really valuable to have it there.
Even through the summer, we host virtual director chats (optional) for our kids. It’s fluctuated on how many have come but when I host them, I just let them chat with each other. It seems to help.
MuseScore is free.
That was great, Todd. Thank you!
it was really great. thank you
What about Matthew Rains question?
my concern is being held accountable for a UIL marching show when my district may go to a core class only in person and electives online solely.
any traction to the sports season swap?
Will the powerpoint from the previous session be available to peruse later? It has some great ideas!
Online payments through paypal via CuTime
I am considering several different shows for halftimes a la college band style
We are allowing our students to pay fees throughout the year.
We are waiting to set fees until we know more.
Going 25% off normal fees for now. Will go more as needed.
No fees for our district and very limited to no fundraising.
If your Boosters sell spirit wear, they can have a “who wore it best” contest. Anyone how buys/owns the spirit wear item submits photos wearing it looking their best. The winner gets featured on the Booster/Band website as advertising for selling the spirit wear to others.
our monies come from football concession stand profits, no games , no $$$$
Same here, Mr. Cantu. Football Concessions is far and away our biggest fundraiser and even the biggest fundraiser in the district.
I know what I share won’t be practical for all — but one more thing to add to the brainstorming of trying to figure out.
UIL has already stated that they are planning on keeping the contests where they are and that they are planning on having contests
buying show and moving over to next year
There is one fact that has been decided by UIL about football games
We do but there's.. politics in the money/revenue in that for us
Dwight Dodd has his virtual hand raised.
What are people thinking about band trips next spring or summer?
no travel next year.
special needs students in band
That would mean you could broadcast a virtual performance during halftime.
I have a hard time asking families who are struggling financially to come up with money for a spring trip. We are fairly affluent, but a large portion of them are in a different financial situation now compared to 4 months ago.
David, I am considering not planning a trip at all for the same reasons
Along with design staffs, like Jarrett Lipman was talking about, if you have any way, try to remember your private lesson teachers, the ones that private lessons are their main-maybe only-income, that have been regular in the past. It is important to help them if you can.
Welcome to Texas y’all!!!
If games are streamed, that would likely raise concerns about copyright. Would we need a separate license to stream halftime shows, assuming we would get to perform?
I grew up on a chicken farm, does that count?
Is there going to be another session soon?
how ca n students march and adhere to cdc guidelines?
Todd, I believe that you do have to have a license for streaming music. I am looking into that next week myself
Livestreams have different copyright rules. You’d have to look into the way radio broadcasts work.
Remember that all across the nation, bands going in. Areas of the country that competition is not as big a deal. Yes it will be different but not impossible!
It was mentioned in my Law and the Arts class at UH.
